VA Patient Info Mobile Apps Coming Next Year; Jerry Ambrosh Comments - top government contractors - best government contracting eventThe Department of Veterans Affairs will launch apps next year for employees to access patient information through mobile devices, AOL Government reports.

In September, the VA awarded FirstView Federal TS with a $9.3 million contract to develop apps for use by 100,000 VA employees.

Jerry Ambrosh, FirstView’s senior vice president for health solutions, told AOL the mobile apps will not be based in a cloud computing environment and will be local to their devices.

Some of the apps include the Clinic in Hand app for viewing of patient information and patient-to-provider secure messaging and the “My Goals” app for veteran information on housing, transportation, health and relationships.
