Harris Corp. (NYSE: HRS) has been selected by G.I. Jobs and U. S. Veterans magazines to their lists of companies that commit to hire veterans, the company announced Friday.
G.I. Jobs chose Harris for the fifth consecutive year as one of the top 100 military-friendly companies in the U. S. based on strength of military recruiting efforts, percentage of new hires with prior military service and company policies toward National Guard and Reserve service.
U. S. Veterans magazine based its list market research, independent research, confidential employee interviews and responses to surveys.
“Our military veterans are equipped with these skills the moment they join us, making them a valued resource in our company,” President and CEO William Brown said. “We are proud to once again be recognized for our commitment to military friendly programs.”
The company has nearly 1,800 veterans in its 15,000-employee workforce and has programs focused on military recruitment.
According to the company, eight full-time employees average 50 percent of their time on sourcing and hiring candidates with prior military experience.
Close to 15 percent of new hires are military veterans, the company said.
