
Floyd Williams, former director of legislative affairs at the Internal Revenue Service, has joined Public Strategies Washington as a senior tax counsel, National Journal reports.
According to PSW, the 40-year tax veteran was the chief adviser to the IRS commissioner on legislative issues and served as the agency’s primary liaison to lawmakers and their staffs.
Prior to heading the IRS legislative office, he served as deputy assistant treasury secretary for legislative affairs.
Williams began his career in 1972 at the IRS as a tax law specialist in the individual income tax branch, then worked as a legislative attorney for the Congressional Joint Committee on Taxation.
His private sector career includes time as senior tax manager at Coopers & Lybrand, now known as PwC, vice president and legislative counsel for the National Association of Home Builders and senior counsel for the Tax Foundation.
