Science Applications International Corp. has won a $13 million contract from the Naval Medical Logistics Command to provide operational medicine research modeling support to the Naval Health Research Center, the company announced Tuesday.
The single-award cost-plus fixed-fee contract includes one base year and two one-year options and work will primarily occur in San Diego.
“We are proud to support the Naval Health Research Center and provide analysis of medical and scientific data to help ensure our military personnel are prepared to serve and achieve their mission,“ said Steve Comber, a senior vice president and business unit general manager.
SAIC will provide the NHRC data analytics services, which SAIC says are dependent upon the collection, characterization, analysis and reporting of data from multiple sources.
Data comes from both in-house sources such as the CTR Expeditionary Medical Encounter database and external sources including the Military Health System, civilian and homeland defense data, tactical data, operational data and personnel data.
The NHRC provides medical modeling and simulation research for the Defense Department‘s homeland defense, humanitarian assistance, peace-keeping and disaster relief activities.
This award follows another $24 million NHRC award announced Monday, where SAIC will study and develop strategies involving load carriage, exposure to cold temperature and other conditions affecting human performance.
