Engility Corp. has appointed 12-year finance and contracting veteran Richard Harkey vice president, corporate controller and chief accounting officer, the company announced Tuesday.

He will join the company Oct. 1 and report to Mike Alber, who joined the company in June as senior vice president and chief financial officer.

“Richard will be a key member of the Engility financial leadership team,“ Alber said in a release. “He brings outstanding financial and management experience to Engility and will be a valuable asset as we continue to improve and refine our business processes and operations.”

Harkey will be responsible for the company“™s accounting and financial reporting, including reports to the Securities and Exchange Commission.

He will also oversee Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and payroll and tax functions.

Before joining Engility, Harkey served as vice president of finance, assistant treasurer and chief accounting officer at Sotera Defense Solutions.

He has also held senior positions at PricewaterhouseCoopers, including senior manager in the aerospace and defense sector.
