QinetiQ North America will provide research, test, development and evaluation services to the Federal Railroad Administration for programs on hazardous materials and other safety components.
The company said it will work with the agency’s research and development office through indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity task orders.
QinetiQ has worked with the agency for 15 years in railway system safety, said J.D. Crouch, president of the technology solutions group.
One contract covers R&D work for safety management systems, hazardous materials transportation, railroad vehicles, track-train interaction, program evaluation and non-electric power and components.
A second contract focuses on human factors for program evaluation, safety management systems, human systems integration, passenger and freight rail operations and new rail systems technology.
The company is also working with a Transportation Department R&D center to examine cybersecurity tools and techniques and evaluate cybersecurity requirements.
