General Dynamics will provide information technology services for the Indian Health Service’s electronic health record system, the company announced Friday.
The company’s information technology unit won a five-year task order in April 2012, which calls for software engineering and support services for the IHS electronic heath information System.
Marcus Collier, senior vice president of GDIT’s health and civilian solutions division, said the company will work with IHS to provide personal and public health services for Native American and Alaska Native people.
The Resource and Patient Management System delivers clinical analytics and population-health measurement tools for assessing treatment outcomes and quality of healthcare.
GDIT will employ its Health Information Exchange Open Source solution to provide data sharing among IHS facilities and connect IHS facilities to the Nationwide Health Information Network, an Internet-based sharing network.
The company will also integrate and re-engineer legacy applications in line with IHS“™s evolving business models, with the goal of meeting current and future technology platforms.
Since 2003, General Dynamics has helped IHS run its electronic health information systems with more than 60 integrated software components.
