The Department of Agriculture wants a department wide store for mobile software applications as it expects mobile usage to skyrocket to 100,000 devices within five years, NextGov reports.
Joseph Marks writes that the Next Generation Mobility blanket purchase agreement being solicited would include device management tools.
The USDA also wants the mobile app store to have a “container solution” to separate personal data and applications on the mobile devices from work data.
According to NextGov, a potential purchase agreement will not exceed $20 million over five years.
The USDA predicts that most employees will have smart phones in the workplace under a bring your own device policy.
