Lockheed Martin will provide a full motion video transmission system for a U.S. Army program, the company announced Monday.

The company will provide GyroLink, a commercial system, for the Army’s Remote – Vehicle Optics Sensor System program.

“Fielded as a configurable component of Gyrocam systems equipment, GyroLink is a plug-in system that deploys with the VOSS on military vehicles,“ said Jay Pitman, director and general manager in the Gyrocam systems business.

GyroLink operates with all previously-fielded Gyrocam VOSS units with the Army, Marine Corps and allied partners, he added in a release.

Army warfighters on a route-clearance patrol will use monitors inside their vehicles to view imagery from other VOSS-equipped vehicles via a wireless connection.

The company will start installing GyroLink on military vehicles this month at its Martin Gyrocam cystems facility in Florida.

News media, private security and law enforcement customers use GyroLink, the company said.

General Dynamics‘ C4 systems unit recently tested transfer of video and data between manpack radios at a demonstration for government customers.
