L-3 Subsidiary Wins Potential $500M Contract for Military Satellite Systems; Bob Jacobson Comments - top government contractors - best government contracting eventL-3 Communications announced Tuesday its GCS subsidiary was awarded a potential $500 million contract to produce Very Small Aperture Terminal satellite systems for the U.S. Special Operations Command.

The New York, Ny.-based firm said the systems will enable global connectivity to tactically deployed special operations forces.

Bob Jacobson, president of L-3 GCS said the firm will begin delivering tri-band Hawkeye III Lite 1.2-meter terminals and quad-band 2.0-meter terminals later this year.

L-3 added the systems are also used by the Defense Department and Homeland Security Department.
