Kratos Wins Contract Worth a Potential $20.2M for Unmanned Aerial Target Drones - top government contractors - best government contracting eventKratos Defense & Security Solutions Inc. has won a potential $20.2 million contract with the Swedish FMV to supply unmanned aerial target drones and associated hardware to the Vidsel Test Range.

Kratos announced today its Composite Engineering Inc. subsidiary, which Kratos recently acquired, received $11.9 million for the contract“™s base period performance.

The contract consists of an additional $8.3 million for hardware options through 2017.

CEI will provide high performance aerial target drones, launch and ground support equipment, spares, training, integration support and program management under the baseline contract.

CEI, along with two other Kratos subsidiaries, will also provide specialized hardware and equipment support for the contract.

Micro Systems Inc., Fort Walton Beach, Fla., will deliver command and control ground station, target test set and avionics for the target drone; while Herley Industries Inc., Lancaster, Pa., will provide radar altimeters.

The unmanned aerial target drone systems will be used as surrogates for high fidelity enemy threats and as weapons testing and training requirements for militaries worldwide.

Kratos said CEI will begin its work for the baseline contract immediately and expects to complete deliveries by 2013.

Richard Selvaggio, Kratos Unmanned Systems Solutions Division president, said the award will allow CEI products to support test and training activities of allied forces worldwide including at the test and evaluation range in Europe near the Arctic Circle.
