Intelligent Decisions and Panasonic are partnering to deliver ruggedized tablets to U.S. Air Force bases worldwide, ID announced Tuesday.
ID received an order to deliver the Toughbook H2 Handheld tablets through the Air Force’s e-Tools contract, awarded to ID in April.
The USAF may now order the Toughbook 31 fully-rugged notebook and Toughbook 53 semi-rugged notebook.
ID President and CEO and Harry Martin said the rugged tablets will technicians on the flight line a handheld alternative to mobile laptops.
The company said USAF technicians will use digitized technical manuals and databases to troubleshoot and repair aircraft.
Toughbook tablets offer USAF technicians a single point of access to information for managing maintenance operations during missions, according to the company.
Panasonic“™s Toughbook H2 handheld tablet runs on Windows 7 Professional operating system.
The electronics firm designed the tablet to work in different weather conditions, be readable in daylight, have a built-in handle and extended battery life.
Intelligent Decisions received a separate Air Force order for Toughbook tablets in April, also through the branch’s e-Tools program.
