Cloud computing security firm Qualys Inc. has elected Howard Schmidt, formerly the White House’s cybersecurity coordinator, to the company“™s board of directors.
The company said he will help the company attempt to expand its presence in the federal market and increase its industry collaboration efforts through the CSO Interchange.
He co-founded the interchange in 2004 with Qualys Chairman and CEO Philippe Courtot.
The company helps agencies monitor and protect against a constantly changing threat landscape, Schmidt said in the release.
He retired from the White House in May and was named cybersecurity coordinator in December 2009.
He previously served as president and CEO of the Information Security Forum and has vice president, chief information security officer and chief security strategist at eBay.
While at the Department of Homeland Security, he served as chief security strategist for the US-CERT Partners Program.
