DRS Soneticom Inc. has won an $11 million contract with the U.S. Special Operations Command to develop a man-portable signals intelligence receiver for the Joint Threat Warning System Ground SIGINT kit program.
The Defense Department said Friday, DRS will build an operational prototype Tactical SIGINT Tool designed as a small form factor, will be easily mission configured, and will be a secure handheld and body-worn networked device.
According to the announcement, the tool will deliver a real-time SIGINT and precision geolocation that features integrated command and control, and cooperative geolocation capabilities.
DRS will perform work under the cost-plus-fixed-fee contract in Melbourne, Fla., and expects to complete the device in September 2014.
