Raytheon will provide engineering and software development services to the Navy for a dual band radar, the Defense Department announced Tuesday.
The company’s integrated defense systems unit will work to make the radar compatible with the power systems on the branch’s Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier class.
According to the Pentagon, the radar is compatible with the emergency diesel generator, main turbine generator and electrical distribution system.
Work under the $38.6 million contract modification will also include detail design and production planning and the Pentagon expects work to finish by April 2013.
The Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington is the contracting activity.
