General Dynamics will provide cyber and information security technologies to Samsung for the mobile device maker’s tablets and smartphones.
Military, government, law enforcement and public safety agencies use the devices to connect to public Internet networks and access secure networks, General Dynamics said.
Agencies can purchase the technologies on contract vehicles from the General Services Administration and other agencies by 2013.
The Falls Church, Va.-based contractor will integrate its cyber technologies on Samsung Approved for Enterprise smartphones and tablets, which will be upgraded to a new secure Android platform.
Customers will work with the companies combat threats posed to networks through commercial devices, said Chris Marzilli, president of General Dynamics’ C4 systems unit.
The departments of Defense and Homeland Security, other federal agencies and partners use similar technologies, the company said.
