A BAE Systems and Rockwell Collins joint venture will produce tactical radio terminals for the Air Force and the Navy, the companies announced Monday.
Data Link Solutions won a $25.8 million contract from the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command to perform first full production and fielding of the joint tactical radio system terminals.
The team completed operational testing ahead of receiving approval for production, said DLS Director Jack Stevens.
Radios for the information distribution system will go to the Navy’s F/A-18 E/F fleet, lab and Supply Systems Command
The Air Force will use the system on the E-8 Joint Stars, RC-135, EC-130E and EC-130H fleets.
Warfighters will use the code-secured systems provide real-time data communications, navigation, digital voice and situational awareness.
