Northrop Grumman Corp. has won an $8,840,092 contract modification to provide radar system components and accessories for Navy ships, the Defense Department announced Tuesday.

The company will provide the branch with cooperative engagement capability interface kits and antenna group upgrade kits for the AN-SPQ-9B radar system.

The radar is designed to detect and track low-altitude, high-speed anti-ship missile targets in environments with heavy traffic.

Eighty percent of the work will occur in Baltimore, Md. and the rest will occur in Melville, N.Y. and Norwalk, Conn.

The Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington is the contracting activity.

The Air Force recently awarded the company a $87.8 million contract to provide the branch with 43 fire control radar systems, supporting a foreign military sales agreement.
