Lockheed Martin announced Friday it has taken Sciaky, Inc. under its wing in part of the Defense Department’s mentor protege program.
Tom Simmons, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co. vice president of supply chain management said through the mentoring program Lockheed will guide Sciakay through the development of its electron beam direct manufacturing capability, which will eventually be applied to the F-35 joint strike fighter aircraft.
In addition, Lockheed will also work to further advance Sciaky in the aerospace, defense and commercial markets.
Lockheed said the program was established in 1991 and pairs small businesses with high potential with well established contracting firms to help them compete for prime and subcontract awards.
