Boeing to Open Brazil Aerospace Research Facility; Donna Hrinak Comments - top government contractors - best government contracting eventBoeing Co. will open a new aerospace research facility in Brazil later this year and collaborate with research-and-development organizations there.

The Chicago-based aerospace and defense firm said those organizations encompass the private, public and academic sectors.

Donna Hrinak, president of the company’s Brazilian operations, said the center is intended to help the country develop its economy and technology.

Boeing Research & Technology-Brazil will focus on air traffic management, aviation biofuels, support services and technologies, advanced metals and bio-materials.

The Sao Paolo-based center will be its sixth international research facility, joining centers in Australia, Europe, China, India and Russia.

The company first entered the Brazilian market in 1932 by delivering 14 F4B-4 fighter jets.

Columbus, Ohio-based Battelle started constructing a new U.K-based R&D facility in March as part of the organization’s efforts to expand its operations there.
