IBM, Rutgers Launch Big Data Computing Center - top government contractors - best government contracting eventIBM and Rutgers University are partnering to launch a computing center focused on big data analytics, the company announced Tuesday.

The high-performance computing center will become a component of the Rutgers Discovery Informatics Institute, powered by the company’s Blue Gene/P supercomputer.

The center uses the company’s supercomputing equipment and software and will help New Jersey-based public and private research organizations.

Rutgers will create high-performance computing resources for state industry and provide resources to Rutgers faculty and regional organizations that utilize large-scale data.

The institute also aims to equip students and New Jersey workforce with analytics skills.

The collaboration between Rutgers and IBM involves the areas of science and engineering including cancer and genetic research, environmental and climate research, medical imaging and informatics and materials science.

The company also recently launched a free Smarter Computing Workload Simulator to help business owners assess information technology costs and savings.
