General Atomics Wins Air Force Contract for Two Reaper UAVs - top government contractors - best government contracting eventGeneral Atomics’ aeronautical systems affiliate won a $38,398,042 Air Force contract to provide two Reaper unmanned aerial vehicles and two aircraft containers, the Defense Department announced Friday.

The UAV maker will provide the modified block one aircraft on a firm-price-incentive-firm contract and the containers on a firm-fixed-price contract.

The Pentagon expects the work in Poway, Calif. to finish by November 2013 and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio is the contracting activity.

The nuclear physics firm also produces the MQ-1 Predator UAV, used by the Air Force and the CIA.

General Atomics recently won an estimated $14 million award to upgrade the aircraft’s digital video system, which contains an infrared sensor, TV cameras and a laser designator and illuminator.
