Boeing Co. has delivered a military refueling plane to Chile after completing depot maintenance in San Antonio, the company announced Wednesday.
This is the last of the three KC-135E Stratotankers the company delivered to the Chilean air force.
Chile bought the planes in July 2009 through the U.S. Air Force’s foreign military sales office.
The Chilean air force will use the planes for humanitarian assistance and refueling, according to Mike Wright, the KC-135 program director.
The company has provided programmed depot maintenance in San Antonio to the U.S. Air Force and international customers since 1998.
KC-135 planes receive the maintenance after logging 20,000 hours in flight or five years of service.
The plane arrived in San Antonio in June and conducted, depot-level inspections, repairs and repainting among other work.
The company delivered the first upgraded Stratotanker on Feb. 18, 2010, a week before an 8.8-magnitude earthquake hit Chile.
Chile used that plane to support humanitarian missions.
