Siemens has won a General Services Administration contract to provide charging stations for electric vehicles, Siemens announced Friday.
Siemens’ electric vehicle infrastructure business will provide electric stations to 20 Department of Veterans Affairs facilities in Michigan and California using the ChargePoint Network.
The charging stations will offer cloud computing-based services to automate payment processing and collect and track charging data.
Judy Marks, president and CEO of Siemens Government Technologies, said the company is committed to helping the government in its goal to achieve energy efficiency and independence.
ChargePoint services are available on iPhone, Android and Blackberry devices for:
- locating charging stations and checking pricing
- checking if a station is available or in use
- obtaining turn-by-turn directions
- reserving stations
