Neel Mehta
Mark Vallaster is director of the federal technology unit at Accenture, a company he joined in 1989.
Vallaster is responsible for the successful delivery and growth of the company’s technology business with the government. He oversees technology delivery in technical disciplines such as systems integration, infrastructure and outsourcing. He also oversees sales activities for each of Accenture’s federal clients.
Vallaster has previously led Accenture’s business with the Department of Homeland Security. He served as program manager for the US-VISIT program, which provides DHS with biometric identification services.
Prior to his work with the DHS, Vallaster led the company’s work with the Treasury Department, including large programs such as irs.gov, the Health“¨Coverage Tax Credit program with the Internal Revenue Service and the U.S. Mint‘s Numismatic operation.
Vallaster’s experience in the federal technology sphere spans over 22 years, working with both civilian and defense customers and serving in roles requiring him to work with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and the Air Force as well.
Vallaster also leads the company’s smart board alliance, which is comprised of a team of more than 30 companies such as Raytheon, L-3 Communications and SRA International.
In addition to US-VISIT, Vallaster directed Accenture teams that managed the Transportation Security Administration‘s Secure Flight program, which was “¨responsible for implementing passenger vetting for domestic travel. According to Accenture, the program is in the early stages of a multi-stage deployment.
Vallaster earned his degrees in both computer science and mathematics from Virginia Tech.
