Intel Corporation is launching a Facebook platform where users can decide which young business leader has the best idea out of 20 start-up ideas. The project aims to foster young leaders’ innovations, introducing a platform where business ideas can be proposed to win a $100,000 prize.
The social platform, named Intel Innovators, is a three month project where entrepreneurs, ages 18 to 24, can share ideas or start-up plans. Using Facebook will let the young business leaders get immediate feedback, grow a fan base and possibly win the prize to back their idea.
Intel Innovators will make its debut in a webcast today. Webcast leaders include Intel’s Deborah Conrad, chief marketing officer; David Fischer, Facebook vice president of advertising and global operations; Ricky Van Veen, CollegeHumor, Connected Ventures co-founder and CEO; and Phil Weilerstein, National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance executive director.
Judges from Betaworks, SV Angel and Intel Capital will award what they deem the best technology ideas every month. The judges will award one $50,000 award. According to the release, “the Intel Innovators Facebook fan that accumulates the most ‘social capital’ will award another $50,000 to one of the five finalists.”
Finalists also get an Ultrabook and an invitation to a mentoring program at NCIIA“™s VentureLab.
