Soon after completing an advanced manufacturing center for tactical radios and assured communication systems in Rochester, N.Y., Harris Corp. has announced its intention to develop a $100 million high-tech advanced engineering center in Palm Bay, Fla.
The company said the center is part of a modernization initiative to attract highly-skilled engineers and foster innovation. The center will support around 300 new contractor positions over its first three years of operation and between 1,200 and 1,400 employees will relocate there.
The center is expected to be completed in 2014 and will house labs and collaborative work spaces over six stories and 45,000 square feet.
“Harris engineers develop some of the world’s most trusted technology solutions, which touch billions of lives every day,” said Harris President and CEO Bill Brown. “This major initiative demonstrates our commitment to provide employees with world-class working environments that help foster innovative solutions for our customers around the globe.”
Brown was recently elected to lead the company and assumed his office on Nov. 1. GovConWire covered his appointment, available here.
