ACS, A Xerox Company has added new cloud-based services by acquiring healthcare IT consultant The Breakaway Group. Financial terms of the purchase were not disclosed.
ACS made the move to improve its cloud offerings for healthcare professionals and increase professional adoption of electronic medical records, the company said in a release.
“Many healthcare providers have made the leap to new technology, but they aren“™t yet reaping the benefits that come from capturing patient data in the most accurate and meaningful way,“ said Chad Harris, group president of healthcare provider solutions for ACS.
In grabbing the company, ACS also acquired the firm’s simulation training service, PromisePoint, which is a practice system for caregivers to learn how to use EMR without jeopardizing actual patient data.
In the release, ACS indicated that it will be able to educate healthcare professionals with Breakaway Group services and that it has gained access to a group that stays “up to date with new rules, upgrades and new challenges, like ICD-10 compliance,“ according to Harris’ comments.
The Breakaway management team and employees will remain with the company.
