A leading HR business magazine, Human Resource Executive, has selected Jeffrey Shuman as its 2011 HR Executive of the Year.
Shuman, who has been with the Harris Corporation since 2005, has held his current title of senior vice president and chief human resources officer since June of 2010. Shuman accepted the honor Tuesday evening during an awards ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel in Las Vegas.
Shuman was behind the design of an integrated talent-management system that includes an organizational development and effectiveness capability to assess company talent.
Despite the sometimes unclear job description for HR executives, Shuman said, “don“™t underestimate the impact you can have in your own organization. Act as business leaders in human capital management and learn to speak the language of your customers.“
