National Institute of Standards and Technology released “NIST Cloud Computing Reference Architecture” to provide a guide for agencies deploying the cloud.
NIST’s recent publication provides information about standards for key features of deploying a cloud computing architecture including security, portability and interoperability, as well as the categories of cloud services that can be used across the government.
According to NIST, a fundamental reference point was needed in order to describe an overall framework that could be used government wide for cloud computing. The document explores NIST Cloud Computing Reference Architecture and Taxonomy that will accurately communicate the components and offerings of cloud computing.
NIST is seen as a guide to the federal government in implementing cloud computing technologies.
