Microsoft and Intel Give 300,000 New York State Teachers Technology Access - top government contractors - best government contracting eventMicrosoft Corp. and Intel Corporation are collaborating with the New  York State Teachers Centers and launching the Tech4Teachers Program allowing K-12 teachers in New York to purchase discounted technology products while also providing training tools to enhance teachers’ technical proficiency.

The Tech4Teachers program hopes to increase teachers’ familiarity with technology so that it can be more easily incorporated in classrooms to enhance student learning. New York is the first state to launch a program of this kind.

“Because a teacher“™s job requires long hours preparing lessons, individualizing instruction and connecting with parents, having the technology tools they need to complete this work outside the classroom becomes essential,“ said Sig Behrens, general manager for U.S. Education, Microsoft.

Intel and Microsoft hope to expand the program to other states all including ways to develop technology skills, allow discounted purchases, and access for public, private and pre-service teachers that are members of the program.
