The International Council of Electronic Commerce Consultants is gearing up for its first-ever CAST Summit, an advanced cybersecurity seminar held this month in Washington, D.C.
The conference was created by the EC-Council to provide advanced security training opportunities for information security professionals and will touch on topics such as penetration testing, cryptography, application security and mobile forensics.
The summit will also include a network defense training course, which is scheduled to be led by Kevin Cardwell, former chief of information security for the U.S. Navy.
“Over the last 10 years, many companies and institutions have failed to prioritize network security, making them significantly vulnerable to damaging attacks from hackers and hacktivists,“ said Leonard Chin, director of CAST. “The advanced network defense course aims to teach information security professionals how to think more aggressively, by incorporating offensive strategies into their defensive planning.”
According to EC-Council, the summit kicks off with a series of advanced technical security training workshops and ends with a one-day seminar with presentations by noted experts and industry practitioners.
The inaugural CAST conference will be held Aug. 22-25 at the Hyatt Regency Bethesda in Maryland.
