ACS, A Xerox Company is introducing the Health Insurance Exchange System, which acts as a marketplace that gives consumers access to a multitude of plans from different providers. The firm notes that in order for the system to work, states must follow regulations and deadlines and consider options that meet the need of its citizens and the law.

Kevin Walsh, vice president of Healthcare Eligibility and Insurance Exchange Services for ACS, A Xerox Company, listed the regulations of governing HIXs. Those regulations include states having their plans ready by 2013, HHS allocating $241 million for development to “innovator states,“ and the goal of exchanges covering 29 million people by 2019, among others.

The firm created a partnership with Choice Administrators and Benefitfocus. ACS will provide business process and technology solutions to help states handle large amounts of information, Choice Administrators will develop and administrate HIXs, and Benefitfocus will provide a Web-based platform for shopping, enrolling, managing, and exchanging benefit information.
