
As director of cyber programs at Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CSCO), Bill Cooper is tasked with cybersecurity strategy, solution development, partner alliances and business development within the firm’s federal business area.
Cooper re-joined Cisco Systems after a nearly five-year stint at Teradata Government Systems, where he was responsible for all sales to federal and state governments in the U.S. With more than 25 years of experience in the government sector, Cooper has held executive-level sales and business development positions at Sybase, Andersen Consulting, Sun Microsystems and Cisco Systems.
Cooper“™s experience in the public sector spans defense and civilian agencies, systems integrators and commercial enterprises.
He began his career as an intelligence officer in the U.S. Air Force, serving as chief of combat intelligence with assignments to B-52 and B-1 wings and with the 7th Air Division at Ramstein AB, Germany. He also served in Desert Shield and Desert Storm, followed by a tour at the Pentagon.
Cooper is a life member of the Air Force Association, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association. He earned undergraduate degrees in English literature from the Citadel in Charleston, S.C., and computer studies from the University of Maryland, as well as a master’s degree in management from Webster University in St. Louis, Mo.
