Northrop Grumman has announced the winners of its annual Northrop Grumman Engineering Scholars Program. The award, a $10,000 scholarship, was given to two Central Florida high-school students who plan to pursue a career in engineering.

“Our nation needs young people to consider pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering and math,“ said Gordon Stewart, vice president and general manager of Northrop Grumman's Laser Systems business unit. “Through the Engineering Scholars program, we can support bright, motivated students in our community as they work towards technical degrees.“

The criteria for the scholarship included being a resident of Orange or Seminole County and a graduating senior this spring for a public or accredited private high school. Applicants were also required to have a minimum SAT score of 1700 or ACT score of 27 and a minimum GPA of 3.5. Work experience, community involvement and extracurricular activities were also taken into consideration.
