On the heels of IBM“™s centennial celebrations are reports of the tech giant appointing a new CEO. The company“™s current CEO Sam Palmisano is about to turn 60, an age when IBM in the past has turned the job over to someone else.
Business Week recently reported three likely candidates, which include Virginia Rometty who is in charge of the firm“™s Big Blue“™s sales. She has been with IBM for 30 years and was formerly head of the services division. Her appointment would make history, as she would be the only women ever at IBM to hold the CEO title.
Others on the shortlist rumored to replace Palmisano are Mike Daniels and Rodney C. Atkins. Daniels is currently head of the services department and has worked in sales and in IBM“™s Tokyo office. Atkins is head of IBM“™s hardware unit.
