Environmental activists, politicians and a bevy of scientists have called climate change a national security issue. Northrop Grumman recently took on that potential threat by addressing it at the Energy, Environment, Defense and Security 2011 Conference in Washington, D.C.
The company“™s CTOs participated in panel discussions and showcased presentations on how the aerospace, defense and security sectors will provide sustainable energy solutions and on how to best protect U.S. infrastructure systems.
The company“™s Information Systems Vice President and CTO Dr. Bob Brammer delivered a presentation titled “Cybersecurity -The Vital Ingredient for Today“™s and Tomorrow“™s Infrastructure Needs.“
He said U.S. infrastructure systems and processes are underdeveloped in terms of handling cyber risk and warned cybersecurity must be built into the infrastructure.
“Without it you lose the enormous benefits gained from your IT investments,“ he added.
Brammer noted that strong cybersecurity is critical to the credibility and operational effectiveness of many of the developments proposed to mitigate climate change.
