Traffic, deteriorating road conditions, construction zones, metered parking, no parking, taxi drivers“¦ the road to ruin is paved, albeit bumpy, for D.C. drivers. It’s no wonder many prefer the unreliability and single-tracking nightmare of the Metro to owning a car.
Still, there are days like today when the rain is pelting pedestrians balancing packages at bus stops or days when carless residents feel the need to drive country roads that owning a car would be a dream come true.
Zipcar is offering a compromise with its car-sharing program. Avoid the hassles and expense of car ownership and lugging home groceries in the rain.
With a variety of plans and cars to choose from, Zipcars are available anytime or day. Bad weather? There“™s a Zipcar for that. Shopping spree? There“™s a Zipcar for that. Impromptu weekend roadtrip? There“™s a Zipcar for that.
And driving in D.C. with Zipcar just got easier. Federal Realty Investment Trust is offering parking spaces specifically reserved for Zipcars.
The Zipcar spots will be available in Bethesda at Woodmont Avenue and Arlington Road, Rockville at Rockville Pike and Halpine Road, Arlington at Army Navy Drive and South Joyce and D.C. at Connecticut Avenue and Ordway Street, NW.
“Car sharing is an extremely cost-effective, convenient and environmentally friendly way for people who don’t own cars, or who sometimes need an extra set of wheels, to run errands, go shopping or go out to dinner,” said Ellice Perez, general manager for Zipcar Washington, D.C. “This new program with Federal Realty allows us to offer a new level of service in Washington, D.C. and across the Mid-Atlantic area by providing area residents with convenient access to car sharing right at the shopping centers they frequent.”
