CSC announced this week the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention“™s National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health awarded the technology firm a contract to support the World Trade Center Health Program.

The NIOSH contract builds on CDC“™s Information Management Services indefinite delivery and quantity contract awarded to CSC in 2010. CSC will support health monitoring and treatment of first responders, recovery and cleanup workers, area residents and others affected by Sept. 11 in New York City, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.

“CSC is honored to have the opportunity to help those affected by the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks,“ said Mike Gaffney, president of CSC“™s North American Public Sector Civil Group. “As a leader in complex program implementation, administration and health claims processing, with a unique specialty in workers compensation programs, CSC“™s experience and expertise uniquely qualifies us to implement this system efficiently and effectively.“

Under NIOSH, CSC is tasked with program administrative support and development, managing claims processing, community outreach and education, data analysis and call center support.

The World Trade Center Health Program was established to monitor and treat health conditions of those impacted by the terrorist attacks. In the wake of the attacks, many first responders, victims and cleanup crews were sickened by toxins released in the debris. The federal government has been actively involved in diagnosing and treating those affected.
