The government contracting community recently lost a revered figure. Daniel R. Bannister, CACI board director, passed away March 12, at the age of 80.

Always a prominent leader in government service, Bannister served on CACI“™s board of directors since 2007. From 1985 to 1997, he served as DynCorp president and CEO, and as chairman from 1997 to 2003.

Ever present in the industry, Bannister served as chairman emeritus of the Northern Virginia Technology Council and as chief executive of Bannister Enterprises, as well as director at Dewberry and Davis architectural firm, on the board of advisers for EOD Technologies Inc., as chairman of the Virginia Center for Innovative Technology and as trustee for the U.S. Air Force Academy Falcon Foundation until his passing.

Bannister was well revered in the community. Last October, the Northern Virginia Technology Council honored him for his leadership and service to the technology community. During his lifetime service, Bannister also received recognition for his accomplishments from the Association of the U.S. Army, where he received the John W. Dixon Award, the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award, the Earle C. Williams Award for Leadership in Technology and the KPMG Peat Marwick High Tech Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

An active member of the Potomac Officers Club, Bannister was recognized by POC for the indelible mark his work has left on the area“™s business community.
