When multinational corporations take on a cause, records are broken and goals are wildly passed. Such is the case with CSC“™s 2010 global blood drive program.

With the help of CSC employees across the globe, GiveBlood GiveLife raced past its target of 1,134 units to end the year with 11,134 units collected.

CSC“™s 2010 blood drive is credited with helping save more than 2,000 patients locally and more than 30,000 patients worldwide.

“The Red Cross commends CSC on these remarkable efforts to help ensure a safe blood supply for all of our communities,“ said Gary J. Ouellette, CEO for the Greater Chesapeake and Potomac Region of the American Red Cross. “We are proud to have CSC amongst our most committed regional blood drive sponsors and look forward to sharing the “˜GiveBlood.GiveLife“™ program as a model for other corporate sponsors to help give back to patients in need.“

CSC began working with the American Red Cross in 2009. The company“™s first blood drive at its Falls Church, Va., headquarters challenged employees to donate 1,000 pints. Dedicated to supporting the Red Cross, CSC said it hopes to collect 10,000 units in 2011.

“We are grateful that CSC employees from around the globe have joined together to support this effort in such a significant way,“ said Susan Pullin, vice president of corporate responsibility and analyst relations for CSC. “Donating blood saves lives and we are honored to help the communities in which we work and live by giving back to others.“
