Virgin America and Google are partnering to promote the airline“™s free in-flight Internet, a deal that will last from Nov. 20 to Jan. 2.
Although many other airlines such as AirTran and American Airlines have begun to offer Wi-Fi on select flights, Virgin is the first to equip all of its planes with the service. The planes also are laptop friendly, with power outlets available at every seat.
“As the only airline based in Silicon Valley, in-flight Wi-Fi has been popular with our guests since we launched it on our first aircraft in November of 2008,” said David Cush, president and CEO of Virgin America.
“Both business and leisure travelers are logging on at a growing rate, and many travelers consider the availability of in-flight Wi-Fi one of the key factors in their booking decision,” he added. “We saw a jump in the number of guests logging on after last year’s free Wi-Fi gift and we expect to see an increase again. Once people try Wi-Fi at 35,000 feet, they rarely go back.”
