All around the Beltway, many charities have something to be thankful for: involvement of many government contractors in charity drives.
According to The Washington Post, Booz Allen Hamilton, SRA International and Deloitte are holding food and clothing drives for the needy this holiday season.
Other companies are feeding those who need it most: IBM will donate $30,000 worth of Thanksgiving dinners to 1,200 families in need, while Vangent will prepare meals for Children“™s Inn patients.
BAE Systems has sponsored Soldiers“™ Angels, a drive bringing together families of deployed soldiers from Ft. Campbell, Ky. The efforts of the group are being filmed by documentarian Michael Slee, who will compare experiences of military families and deployed soldiers in Afghanistan.
Slee said efforts “give the families a mission and bring them together with people who understand — that’s the purpose behind the effort. Not only do they fill packages, but via video they see the arrival and opening of the packages, and how much the gifts are appreciated.”
