Hackers managed to steal $600,000 from a Jersey Shore town’s bank account, and $200,000 is still missing, Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

TD Bank notified Brigantine, N.J., last week that multiple wire transfers had come from the town’s account. Authorities said someone got access to a user name and password and possibly used a virus or spoofed the bank’s real page.

Mayor Phil Guenther told the Press of Atlantic City he believed the money would be recovered and/or reimbursed to the city of Brigantine. The city is working with state police and the FBI with the investigation.

TD Bank said it had been able to reverse about $400,000 of the fraudulent transfers and was trying to recoup the rest.
