U.S. federal prosecutors claim to have extradited the alleged ring leader of a cyber crime gang which stole more than $9.4 million in a 12-hour period from RBS WorldPay. The robbery was carried out by hacking the bank account processor.
Sergei Tsurikov, 26, of Tallinn, Estonia, was recently sent to the United States following his arrest in Russia back in March. On Friday, he appeared in court where he pleaded not guilty to charges of computer fraud, wire fraud, conspiracy and identity theft.
Tsurikov, along with seven accomplices, are accused of hacking the Royal Bank of Scotland’s Atlanta-based unit, WorldPay. The group managed to obtain some 44 payment cards.
