More than 700 guests in 21 sites of Destination Hotels & Resorts were affected by a cyber attack when crooks stole credit-card details after installing malware on the payment-processing system of the hotel chain, ABC News reports.
Texas police were informed about the scam soon after three dozen guests and diners at the Driskill Hotel had their information stolen after spending a night there or eating at its two restaurants. The breach occurred at places where credit cards were physically swiped, with Internet and phone transactions not compromised.
The Colorado-based company, which manages more than 30 upscale hotels, resorts and conference centers nationwide, reports the problem has been solved, and police and the FBI are now investigating the case.
