Spanish police have arrested four individuals accused of defacing the websites of Spain’s two main political parties.
The hackers are alleged to have added a red fist to the website of the Partido Socialista Obrero Español and the Partido Popular, the hackers also hit the website for the TV show Sálvame with digital graffiti.
According to Panda, a Spanish security firm, the hackers attacked via configuration or systems errors before modifying the content of the websites targeted in the attacks. The arrested group include two minors and two individuals who are older and may face charges over the theft of personal data of 120,000 users stored on the Sálvame website.
“The serious thing, as we've read, is that one of them admits having stolen a file that contains a database with more than 120,000 users of the affected TV channel,” according to a Panda blogpost. “This fact would have made the group of Computer Crimes speed up their arrest in order to prevent them from putting up the file for sale.”
