With the staggering number of cyber attacks hitting businesses in Wales, companies are now getting a chance to learn more about how to protect themselves against criminals on the Internet.

Participants at the e-Crime Wales Summit held July 15 in Newport, Wales, will hear from ex-CIA agent Richard Hollis of Orthus on how to remain secure on social networks, and ex-FBI man Ed Gibson on emerging patterns of cyber crime.

A representative from Facebook will be speaking about what the social networking site does to protect its users when they are online. Experts from Microsoft will also address online privacy and protection, while security expert David Lacey will give insight into the changing security landscape for SMEs. RSA’s Mark Crichton will explore current trends in online fraud.

The summit, held for the sixth year, is part of a program of activities hosted as part of e-Safety Week.
