President Obama, in an effort to live up to promises made to support small and disadvantaged contractors, has outlined several points to help make that come to fruition.
As part of Obama’s executive order, federal chief information officer Vivek Kundra and federal chief technology officer Aneesh Chopra will be tasked with creation of a Web site that would keep tabs on the various moving aspects of the initiative.
The actions will also see the creation of a new Veterans Small Business Development, headed by the Small Business Administration, aimed at boosting the success of veteran-owned small businesses.
“Obtaining tangible results will require an honest and accurate accounting of our progress so that we can have transparency and accountability through Federal small business procurement data,” Obama wrote in a memo. “Additionally, we must expand outreach strategies to alert small firms to Federal contracting opportunities.”
