Duties
The incumbent in this position works in a team atmosphere with staff of DMO’s Market Compliance Section, as well as staff from DMO’s Market Review Section and the Division of Clearing and Intermediary Oversight (DCIO), to conduct and support regular technical reviews of the electronic systems and the business continuity and disaster (BC-DR) recovery capabilities of both existing exchanges and new applicants for designation as exchanges. These reviews evaluate the compliance of such electronic systems and BC-DR capabilities with the cyber and information security requirements, capacity requirements, and BC-DR requirements of the Commodity Exchange Act, including core principles and Commission regulations and policies.
To carry out the responsibilities of this position, the incumbent may:
- Work on teams responsible for conducting technology reviews of designated contract markets (DCMs), registered derivatives transaction execution facilities (DTEFs), and exempt commercial markets (ECMs) on which significant price discovery contracts (SPDCs) are traded or executed.
- Conduct technology reviews of applications by entities to become a DCM or DTEF.
- Meet with officials and representatives of DCMs, DTEFs, and ECMs concerning aspects of such reviews or concerning review findings, and participate in DMO’s assessment of the efficacy and timeliness of corrective actions by reviewed entities.
- Assist with ongoing special projects and with development of DMO’s market continuity program, including its review guidelines and procedures and its assessment tools.
